Let’s talk about affiliate marketing today.

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s(or company’s) products.

You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.

This simply means you promoting a product to your followers and earning a commission from it. Assuming you’re blogging about fashion and your blog has a reasonable number of followers and readers. You can approach a company that deals with products that you might want to promote on your blog and you can agree on the commission you’ll get if you sell the product.

You simply kill two birds with one stone, you continue doing what you love(Blogging) while making money from it! How cool is that!

Personally if you have noticed, am currently using a free WordPress theme for this blog, Which means it’s not possible for me to do any affiliate marketing for now. But am also planning on moving this blog to my own domain soon. The problem is i haven’t really decided which company will host me. Affiliate ads.png

After moving to my domain ill have a chance to do affiliate marketing and most probably promote the company that will be hosting me to you my readers! got it?

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to invest the time and effort to create a product to sell. You can begin selling something as an affiliate as soon as you have a platform(Blog/website) to sell it on.

Here are 2 rules i would advise you to follow if you’re going to start doing affiliate marketing

  1. Only recommend products as an affiliate that you’re extremely  familiar with – preferably products that you’ve  used before and have helped you  achieve something. If I’m not confident in the product and I don’t feel it will positively help people, I will not promote it.
  2. Never directly tell anyone to buy a product. Always recommend products based on your experience and in the context of what you’ve done or what you’re doing.

Honest affiliate marketing will  always works. I encourage you to do the same if you’re going to venture out into this type of marketing.
